Hello. I am a 35 yr old female, have had 2 children (c-section) and a hysterectomy. I am a bit overweight, approx. 40 pounds. I have been diagnosed in the past with stomach ulcers. Most recently (January) I had severe right side (2-3" below the ribs), I went to the Dr. assuming I had an appendicitis, well it seems I didn’t. He ran tests and did an ultra sound, my stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, kidney and appendix were all fine, however he did say that I showed signs of moderate fatty liver disease. Recently, (last week) I started having the same pain in my side, it was severe last weekend and hurt worse with movement. I took it easy, what what I ate (when I did) and it has gradually gotton better, (is still a dull, constant, aching pain), however in addition to it now I have SEVERE heartburn after I eat/drink anything. I have a horrible taste in my mouth, my stomache, chest and throat burns, I still have the pain in my side as well. Antacids don’t help, bland diet didn’t help, water didn’t, Aciflex meds didn’t help. I am in pain and am not sure what else this could be. I know I should see a gastroenterologist, but I am not eligible for insurance for another month. I know there are such things as gall stones, acid reflux, GERD, ulcers, etc. But does anyone have any educated idea as to what this is and should I be extremely concerned or should I hold out a few more weeks until the insurance kicks in and I can see a professional. My quack of a Dr. doesn’t seem to help me much, anyone out there with the same symptoms and a diagnosis, and Dr’s out there with suggestions. Thanks for any help!!!

I have recently been diagonosed with a 2-3mm non blocking kidney stone, and have been referred to the urologist because of blood in the urine.

CT Scan shows stone in the lower pole calix of left kidney, 17 mm hemangioma in left hepatic lobe & small amount of cul-de-sac fluid seen just posterior & right of the uterus. Ultrasound was normal, but I do have a reversed uterus & long time sufferer of endometriosis. Everything else is normal & lung bases are clear.

Best I can explain my symptoms – abdominal swelling and hardening, both upper & lower(feels as if I’ve just done alot of crunches & muscles are tight & sore). Pressure under my rib cage and left side (feels like my ribcage needs to expand in order reduce the pressure), cramping in stomach & back – never really sharp pain, just chronic & tiring. I can move for short periods of time, & driving is impossible. Restrictive clothes makes it worse (bras, jeans).

Could this all be inflamation due to the stone?
My appointment for the urologist is the 30th, & in the meantime I reduced coffee intake to 1-2 cups, and the rest of the time it’s water, water, water, and Celebrex 2x a day. This is going on three weeks, and I still have not been able to pass the stone…

My dog is sick. It started 3 weeks ago when he wouldn’t pee – brought him into the vet and they removed a mucus plug, but the next weekend, he was back to the same issue. Again they removed a mucus plug and suggested an ultrasound. We scheduled one. The next weekend, he was doing better on acidic meds to break up what they thought were beginning kidney stones. He was doing okay so they canceled the ultrasound. Then, in the middle of the week, he had a complete turn around. Now he couldn’t stop himself from peeing!!! And it was happening to the point where he’d piss and then just lay in his own pee because he was so lethargic. He started throwing up. We brought him back into the vet and they put him on anti-inflamatory’s and new food (C/D diet) because we thought that was the problem. Now his potty problems seem to have disappeared – but he’s still incredibly lethargic and is puking ALL the time. I am running out of money to bring him in. He’s also got slimy stuff from his mouth. :(
