As of Thursday when my 15 year old son was urinating blood and in severe pain I took him to the doctors. They ran blood tests, urine tests, an x ray of his chest and pelvis, and did the not fun swab stick. It turns out that he has definitly a UTI and a small kidney stone that did not show up on the x-ray. He was put on a bladder analgesic, Tylonal 3, and antibiotics. Have any your men or teens ever had to through this? How long did it take for the stone to pass? How long did you urinate blood? Did the pain go away right after the kidney stone was passed or did it still last a while? What should he expect during the urination that passes the stone? I know alot of pain, but will he pass out, will he be screaming, or will it be bearable? What was your experiance like using the above questions.

I know these are personal ?’s, and your answers will help my son and I know what to expect from someone that has gone through the same thing that is around his age up to age 25. Thanks!

Okay, I’ll start from the beginning. I am 15… and when I was born I would always have UTIs and Kidney infections… they did surgery when I was like 6 or 7. Supposedly it was taken care of. About a week and a half ago, when I would use the bathroom it would hurt to pee. Like a UTI. And then a couple days later my sides hurt around to my back in the kidney area. They’ve continued to hurt. I went to the doctor today and they did a UA and they found like… blood. And so they said if the pain continues then, they are going to check for kidney stones.

SO! I’ve been reading about it and the treatment and everything and in a lot of places it says that the pain is severe, probably the most painful thing next to childbirth.

Do you think I have Kidney Stones?

Is there anyway to pass it without severe pain?

And whoever answers this… Please be really experienced or a doctor.

I was in the ER 4/25/10 with severe pain in my kidney, and they said I have a kidney stone… 5mm. I know I was having symptoms like two to three days prior to that… just curious on how long it usually takes for it to pass…they said it was in a tube near my bladder… and is it painful when it passes? this is my first one.

I woke up at 1 in the morning with severe abdominal pain. It only got worse as the night went until I curled my legs in holding my stomach and slept a little. It’s 7 now and the pain isn’t nearly as bad except when I get up to move around I can feel it a little. It almost felt like I was punched in the stomach and the pain radiated forever and just didn’t seem to go away with any position I made. I also went to the bathroom and my pee was a light yellow but It didn’t burn to pee. I also made a bowel movement and it was very dark and tarry. What could this be?

Today was supposed to be my 5th day in Ketosis. Could that have something to do with it? My diet consists of Boca burgers, eggs, peanut butter, cheese, cashews, protein shakes, and 5-8 glasses water. I also take a vitamin D3, B12, and a multivitamin.

Please help. Was it a Kidney stone even though I didn’t feel any pain peeing?

April 2nd. I was in the emergency room with severe pain to only find out I had kidney stones. The large one I passed that day or afterwards little did I know. The doc gave me demeral, vicodin, and flomax and sent me home. The flomax has terrible side effects, I’m debating whether I should even take it anymore! I am still having problems with stomache cramping and gurgling and sometimes my urine is orangeish colored. I am drinking plenty of fluids like gatorade lemon juice and water. When I had my CT Scan, my big stone was no longer stuck in my ureter and had passed it. But the CT scan showed I had 2 other stones that were around 6mm previously which were shrunk down to around 2 or 3mm. I am still awaiting. How will I know if I’ve passed them for sure?
