My 3 year old neutered tabby was taken into the emergency clinic last night for a urinary blockage. I’ll find out from the vet what, if any, crystals were found in his urine, or if there are bladder/ kidney stones etc, and know better after that. But for now the recommended treatment is Hills SD veterinary prescription diet. The formulas would be SD (Stone dissolving) for 4-8 weeks, or until the active problem is under control, and cd as a long term maintenance diet.

Since we just switched two weeks ago from free feeding dry Natural Balance to canned Wellness as long term therapy for a female with recurring bladder infections/utis, I’m assuming easy access to clean fresh water is not the source of the problem. Although I am also considering making it filtered or distilled water which is likely to have fewer minerals in it. How unusual a coincidence is that to have two of the three come down with urinary related problems ?? They’ve never been on low quality foods….

So anyone have good luck with Hills Science Plan SD or CD..?
It’s gonna be expensive so I’m open to OTC alternatives if you’re not convinced it’s the right food….
