My five year old female Shihtzu just came home today from having bladder surgery to remove kidney stones. She has been prescribed Hill’s C/D prescription diet. I have given her the canned and the kibbles and she really hates it and will not eat it. I have also purchased the treats. She does like the treats but won’t eat anything else.
Is there anyone out there that has had a similar situation. If so what did you feed your dog? I do not want the kidney stones to come back so I have to be very strict with her diet.
I just worry bc she is not eating. I have to give her meds and usually put the meds in her food. She won’t eat.
I have tried warming up the food, she wont touch it. Worried…

The house we live in is the only place she has lived in her 14 years and I am worried that it will age her because of moving to unfamiliar surroundings. Her only existing health problem is a small kidney stone which is monitered when she goes to the vet about every two months, and she is on a healthy prescription diet.

My dog’s 13 years old, a small maltese, and he’s having troubles with one hind leg lately, with limping. He suffered from kidney stones when he was younger and therefore eats medicated food from the vet’s office, Hill’s Prescription Diet c/d for canines. I know that mixing medications is potentially dangerous for a dog, and I just wanted to know if anyone knows whether or not it’d be okay to give my dog baby aspirin on his worse days until I’m able to afford glucosomine pills. Also, if anyone knows where to get effective yet cheaper pills to build cartilage, that’d be great. I can’t take seeing the dog I’ve had since I was four hobble around my house, it’s beyond cruel. He’s aways been so youthful until recently.

Hello–
My 3 year old Sheltie was just examined today and has 3 to 4 bladder stones. She was given an antibiotic and "Hill’s PRESCRIPTION DIET s/d" to delove the stones over time.
I’ve been doing some reasearch and have found some "herbal" treatments that claim to disolve the stones and are pills NOT food.
Do theses work?
