male cat (unknown age, till recently a stray) has kidney problems- as the vet said-, his gums are also in terrible condition – i don’tt understand, they look "black".
Vet gave him medicine for one week treatment and after the week: either the treatment will save him or he will be put into sleep.

Is there anything else we can do for him?

Cat was recently picked up from the street by rescuers.

My 11-year-old male cat (neutered and indoor) has kidney stones. For the past couple days he’s been having a lot of trouble urinating, and when he does manage to urinate there’s been blood in his urine. He’s also been vomiting and doesn’t have an appetite.

He’s had kidney stones a couple times before, and when I took him to the vet, they gave me these pills to give him, but he would just throw them up. I don’t remember what was in the pills they gave me, but I know they were an antibiotic.

What can I do to help him until I can get him to the vet? Is there any way I can help him break up the stones, like a special diet I could give him? I know I shouldn’t give him dry cat food — are there certain vitamins that could help break up the stones, or ways to encourage him to eat and drink more? Also, what can the vets do to help him, other than surgically removing the stones? Is there something like an antibiotic shot they could give him?

Thanks in advance!

I have an 8 yr old male cat at the vet’s with kidney stones. He is very sick. I need some direction on what to do as I cannot afford to keep him at the vet. He is currently on an I.V. and has a catheter in his penis. He is very lethargic and doesn’t even know I’m there. He is not eating or drinking. He has been suffering for the past three or four days. I want to take him home today to save cost at the vet. My dilemma is, do I pick him up today, or do I keep him there. If I keep him there it’s going to cost me more money that I absolutely don’t have right now. So my next question is, if I did have the money to fix him right now. Will I have to go through this again soon? What will be the quality of life for him? How much will it cost me on down the road to keep him well and out of pain? How much attention is he going to need? The vet ran some blood and urine test on him and said that he does in fact have some kidney damage, and he’s also diabetic. He wants to run some more test to see if his treatment is helping. I can’t afford to pay for more tests and I have explained this to my vet. My vet told me last night that I could pick up my cat today at 2PM, but he strongly discourages it. I really don’t know what to do. My cat is my only companion. I live alone and my home is very empty without him. Can someone please advise me?

I just got a new cat, about 3 yrs old, male cat. Seems it is a Siberan cat. Is there a special diet or mix diet to prevent kidney stone ???? like low protein ? low mag?? low sodium ??

thank you .
it might sounds stupid, but when you say "low ash/magnesium content", what is the %% ?? most of them out there is between 6-7 %, are they consider as HIGH ????

thank you

P.S. I started to shop for feed w/ cranberry in it. But it seems my cat is getting slimmer and slimmer but LONGER in length. weid~~~~
