My father had a history of kidney stones for the past ten years. He was gone through two procedures before to get these stones from his kidney out using the lithotripsy option, which was described to be very painful but it did not get rid of the problem. He has again diagnosed with another kidney stone and the doctors suggested lithotripsy again. We are very concern and we are seeking other alternatives other than this same procedures that have been conducted before. The stone is about 8mm, considered big. If you have any answers or suggestions as to ways or other alternatives other than the two procedures above that are safe and less painful, please let me know. We need answers as soon as possible before he has to go through surgery in the next couple of weeks and the doctors are calling to schedule an appointment for his surgery already. Thank you so much. I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon, and hopefully you have helpful answers and suggestions to my concerns.
I generally laugh at home remedies, because I feel like the billions spent on medical research would confirm or deny them, BUT my friend suffered for three weeks with a kidney stone. Pain so bad they had him on morphine. He was scheduled for lithotripsy (ultrasound breaking up), but last week he started a vinegar-drinking regimen, and within two days passed huge amounts of flakes and the stone was gone. What the heck? Sounds to me like it worked. The doc pooh-poohed it, but admitted the stone was gone. What the heck?
The urologist said he was having a hard time seeing the stone but went ahead with the procedure. When it was all said and done the doctor said he was never hitting the stone because the stones were fully intact and never even cracked. Since then my husband has had severe pain in that area. He has been back to the urologist several times and even our family doctor and they can find no reason for his chronic pain. Could the lithotripsy have done some damage? Has anyone been thru anything similar to this?
Uggghhhh I just found out I have 13 kidney stones!! 7 in the left 6 in the right!
One of the stones is 9mm x 6mm. I’m going to have to have lithotripsy and I was wondering what it’s like?
oh BTW I’m only 22 and I’m a girl if that matters. This sucks!
