I am currently on a low carb / low calorie diet, and to make up for a possible loss in nutrition I have been taking vitamins every day. I have also been working out a lot and have lost 70-75 lbs in the past 4 months. I recently went through the most painful experience in my life, passing a kidney stone. The doctor said kidney stones can just happen and most likely wasn’t something that I did myself that caused it, however I can’t help but wonder if it had to do with my diet. Or since kidney stones are made up of an excess build up of calcium in your kidneys, maybe it is because I have been taking vitamins every day. I am almost 25 years old. The vitamins I am taking are GNC Mega Men. Is it possible that the kidney stone was cause by my diet, weight loss, or taking vitamins? Thanks in advance for your advice.

My cat is almost 15 years old and has kidney disease and a kidney stone. She is getting VERY thin (5-6 lbs) from the kidney disease, but the vet says that all we can feed her is the prescription food for her kidney stones, or else any minerals in the food will make the kidney stone larger, but she needs more calories. When we eat, she wants our food and she would eat other cat food if she could, so there’s no loss of appetite. I know that the main reason for death from kidney failure is the weight loss and I can’t see how she can lose anymore weight, so I’m thinking that I should just give her whatever food she wants, because she can’t get any worse. Does anyone have any advice for this situation?

Is there anyone who upholds an anti oxalate kidney stone diet (and who uses NO anti oxalate kidney stone medicine) for some years AND thereof gets significantly or substancialy less stones? (and is convinced about it.)
If so, could you pm me the diet info?
I already know chocolate, nuts and the like are suspected things, But even so, specific foods might be far less important then specific food combinations?
