Today I was sitting at work when i felt a sharp pain around my kidneys in my back. I soon left for home and was in extreme pain laying down, when the pain slowly moved to my intestinal area. After about 2 hours, the pain slowly subsided. Im convinced its a kidney stone (unless it could be something else), as nausea accompanied this experience and the pain was in the right place. I didnt pass anything, so would these symptoms eventually be returning?

She can’t even get out of bed now. Yesterday she had an attack, with extreme stomach pain. Now she is on an antibiotic. She can’t eat, she feels like throwing up. She is very weak. What can she do to feel stronger, and what can I do to help her?

I just had my first warning sign that I will soon pass a kidney stone. (Extreme sharp pain at the tip of my urethra.) This has me very worried (and terrified to go to the restroom!)

I’ve passed many kidney stones over the last five years (I’m 18 years old, male, 5’9" 140 lbs, and otherwise healthy.) Passing kidney stones have been by far the worst experience of my life. My question now is, 1) How fast do Kidney Stones grow? It’s been a while now since I’ve passed one, does that mean that the stone is going to be bigger this time because it’s had longer to grow?

2) Is there anything I can do over the next day or so that I’m passing the stone besides taking Vicodin? The worst part of the experience by FAR is going to the restroom, knowing that I could pass the stone at any time. I’ve had at least one incidence of the stone getting stuck halfway out of my urethra. (With an unpleasant "milking" required to remove the stone.) Any tips for stone passage?

I had extreme pain on Wednesday and was discharged from the hospital 24 hours later. I never passed it. I only have mild pain every now and then. How long on average does it take to start moving again? Its been 4 days now..

I have talked to my doctor I just want to know what you all think.
The pain was and is still in my back.. does that necesarilly mean I did not pass it yet? Will it always hurt in your uretha area when its almost done passing?

my husband went in several months ago to the ER (he was in extreme pain)for a colon issue and got a cat scan. They found no problems with his digestive system or anything in the cat scan..they told him he should see a gastroenterologist . So he did a few mths later (after insurance had kicked in) and the results oft the cat scan were faxed to the gastroenterologist(sp?) and they told my husband that the cat scan showed that he had kidney stones

The hospital said NOTHING about kidney stones!! Isn’t it there job to tell him if something was wrong!?!

Someone said that because thats not what he went in for that they didnt HAVE to tell him about it…

The gastroenterologist said the kidney stones shouldn’t get any worse if my hubby changes his diet. so they aren’t an immediate threat. But he could have been working on fixing it MONTHS ago!!

Am I wrong…but I think they should have told him!! Can I get the in trouble for that!?! lol
