I read this horrible thread on a board. I’m now terrified. How to prevent them aside from drinking water?

Also my cousin drinks about 3 cans of Diet Pepsi and about one bottle of water per day. He also eats some salty snacks at times and eats mostly beef for dinner. Is he at risk??

I have been told drink a six pack of coke in a 1/2 hour, or drink acidy drinks…

I recently became a little freaked out about the possibility of getting a kidney stone after seeing pictures of different kinds. They are big and all of them look extremely painful!! I don’t want to go through that since I’ve read it’s one of the most painful experiences. I’ve read that large amounts of sodium intake increase the chances of receiving a kidney stone (in addition to one’s age–I’m 32) so I want to reduce (if not eliminate) my sodium intake.

I drink Mountain Dew like crazy. It’s the only thing I drink in the winter. I also eat a lot of frozen dinners that have large amounts of sodium. Snacks like pretzels and chips are in my diet as well (hell of a diet, eh?). Giving up Mountain Dew will be hard but it can be done I guess. The frozen dinners, not so much because I don’t really cook and I am NOT a vegetarian! Plus they are easy on my limited budget. What do I do? What foods/drinks are low in sodium?

My step-dad is passing one. This isn’t the first time he has passed one. He has to go to the hospital each time he gets one. Today he was vomiting and sweating and his skin turned yellow. This cannot be healthy over time. What are some of the complications of kidney stones? He drinks water a lot but is overweight.
