I have a 10 month old male domestic short-hair. I have had him every since he was about 4 weeks old (Me and my roommate discovered him outside alone, he was abandoned by his stray mother). For about half his life, he would only eat wet cat food, he would go hungry before tasting the dry stuff. One day my mom bought him "The Goodlife Recipe" and he actually loved it! I no longer had to mix his wet food with his dry food to get him to eat the stuff. Now I’m at a dilemma. My kitten’s current diet is 2 pouches of wet cad food, one in the morning, one at night, while he also has a bowl of dry food out at all times for "grazing" in between meals. Some one told me the other day that wet cat food can cause kidney stones in male cats because males’ urethea has a funnel effect. I reseached this and my research tells me that DRY FOOD actually does this to cats. My roommate tells me wet food is bad because its harder to digest, but i know dry food can’t be goos for cats either, just from common sense! So can anyone set me straight here? I really want to keep my cat on a regular diet of wet food because my sense tells me thats what is best for him. Should i have any worries?

I have an 8 yr old male cat at the vet’s with kidney stones. He is very sick. I need some direction on what to do as I cannot afford to keep him at the vet. He is currently on an I.V. and has a catheter in his penis. He is very lethargic and doesn’t even know I’m there. He is not eating or drinking. He has been suffering for the past three or four days. I want to take him home today to save cost at the vet. My dilemma is, do I pick him up today, or do I keep him there. If I keep him there it’s going to cost me more money that I absolutely don’t have right now. So my next question is, if I did have the money to fix him right now. Will I have to go through this again soon? What will be the quality of life for him? How much will it cost me on down the road to keep him well and out of pain? How much attention is he going to need? The vet ran some blood and urine test on him and said that he does in fact have some kidney damage, and he’s also diabetic. He wants to run some more test to see if his treatment is helping. I can’t afford to pay for more tests and I have explained this to my vet. My vet told me last night that I could pick up my cat today at 2PM, but he strongly discourages it. I really don’t know what to do. My cat is my only companion. I live alone and my home is very empty without him. Can someone please advise me?

Hi,
I have a 6 mm sone in ureter(something called right hydronephrosis)I was scheduled for a ESWL(shock wave lythotripsy) when i found out i was pregnant. My pregnancy is 2-4 weeks. My gynac said that there can be serious complications during pregnancy if i continue with the stone.
If i get it removed through lythotripsy then there are high chances of miscarriage. Also they will have to do xrays and that harmful shock waves.I am more concerned about the health of baby in case he survives this surgery than miscarriage.
Is there any way so that kidney stone is removed and baby is also safe??
Please any specialist or doctors or ladies who have gome through this dilemma, please tell your experiences and please share your knowledge.
Can a 6mm stone cause kidney damage during pregnancy? Can it be harmful for the baby? What complications can be if i continue with pregnancy and wait until delivery to get rid of that stone.
What other procedures available to remove the stone in this situation?
If i go for abortion through medicines then will i be able to conceive again as this is my first pregnancy and i heard we should not take chances in case of first pregnancies.
Let me tell the whole story..I had severe pain followed by vomiting around 1 month back. After that i went to the doctor…she asked for ultrasound. Then they found a kidney sone. Then i got ctscan and xray done both at the time of pregnancy :( (.
After that day when i had that first attack..i usually have slight pain in the lower back and right side of stomach..sometimes in the lower abdomen but its not like i can not tolerate that pain. Its like slight pain and when i drink a lot of water its gone. And i never vomited also after that day.
Although yesterday i saw blood in my urine.
Please help as i am not getting proper answers from my urologist and gynac.
Most important question…can a 6mm stone be passed with urine using home remedies??If i try will that be safe for the baby?
