I took my cat to a vet who is supposed to be really good because my cat was passing kidney stones and a crystal had passed through his bladder and was stuck in the urethra. The vet put a catheter through and had to flush out his whole system because my cat was in REALLY bad shape.]: So i got my cat back on the 23rd and have been giving him antibiotics the doctor gave me every 12 hours. Now my cat is going back to his painful lethargic state he was in BEFORE we ever took him in the first place! We payed OVER 1,300 dollars which we really don’t have right now (we don’t have animal insurance either). So we called to the vet again to tell them how he is in pain again and really lethargic etc. and they said there’s really nothing they can do about it. I know for a fact that is BULL **** because this kind of thing happens to humans all the time. I have family in the medical fields nurses, surgical technologists etc and i know that when this happens to a human they don’t just let people die. I understand people are different but they take care of it and they don’t go back to the same conditions 3 days later. Most wouldn’t understand but my two cats are my favorite things in the whole world and i have the strongest love for them I couldn’t bare to let one go. Please I need some help on what to do and why his first treatment of being in the hospital for FOUR days didn’t work. Please help.

Also they said he is NOT supposed to be lethargic really at all anymore. I have him on a special diet he needs to be on for at least 3 years. And is there nothing I can do since he was not treated properly? I cant pay another 1400 dollars but I will try payment plans. Why is it they say there is nothing they can do?
]’: He is only 3 years old and my other kitty is stressed out and won’t clean him or cuddle with him anymore she knows somethings wrong./:

After Kidney Stone surgery I could not urinate. A catheter was installed in my penis. Is this a common problem after this type of surgery?

- How does a person get kidney stones?
– What kinds of foods contribute to this?
– What can one do to prevent this from happening?
I’ve heard that one way of treating them is a doctor uses a catheter which I NEVER want to go through. I personally do not have kidney stones but I want some advice as to how to prevent myself from getting them.
Thanks

I have an 8 yr old male cat at the vet’s with kidney stones. He is very sick. I need some direction on what to do as I cannot afford to keep him at the vet. He is currently on an I.V. and has a catheter in his penis. He is very lethargic and doesn’t even know I’m there. He is not eating or drinking. He has been suffering for the past three or four days. I want to take him home today to save cost at the vet. My dilemma is, do I pick him up today, or do I keep him there. If I keep him there it’s going to cost me more money that I absolutely don’t have right now. So my next question is, if I did have the money to fix him right now. Will I have to go through this again soon? What will be the quality of life for him? How much will it cost me on down the road to keep him well and out of pain? How much attention is he going to need? The vet ran some blood and urine test on him and said that he does in fact have some kidney damage, and he’s also diabetic. He wants to run some more test to see if his treatment is helping. I can’t afford to pay for more tests and I have explained this to my vet. My vet told me last night that I could pick up my cat today at 2PM, but he strongly discourages it. I really don’t know what to do. My cat is my only companion. I live alone and my home is very empty without him. Can someone please advise me?
