My husband has been haveing terrible back pains and went to the Dr. His blood work showed very high protein in his urine. He also had a CT Scan and has either an infected cyst of an infarction on his left kidney. What does this mean as far as treatment , prognosis, in other words is he going to be ok? I am wondering why he wasn’t started on antibiotics. He has been in pain for approx. 3 weeks. He is to have a biopsy this coming week. He does have Diabetes and high blood pressure.

My mom is well advanced in her age and was recently diagnosed with a Malignant Kidney tumor. She is about 74 but is still quite active and still drives.

No Biopsy has been done yet. The tumor in the MRI was measured at 3 cm c 3 cm.
It is growing outside of her kidney and no full diagnosis has been given
My concern is given her age, what are her survival rates in regards to treatment.
What are the possible treatments.

I am wanting to find an alternate solution since I am hesistant to allow her to do surgery duew to her age or chemo.

I have reoccurring kidney stones and infections. Every time i have to go to the dr or the er they are worse and worse. I had a kidney stent, and after it was removed i got worse again. I am now having lithotripsy today to break up the stones, and a possible biopsy. Are there any diseases or serious conditions that can cause this?

Good afternoon,
I posted this question last night and it seems like I may have missed out on some information.
My Mother is well advanced in her age, around 74, still sharp and semi active though retired.
My mom’s side of the family does have a medical history of high blood and Diabetes.
Just last week she was found to have a tumor at her kidneys. Upon further examinaton via MRI
The tumor is found to be 3×3 cm big growing outside her kidney.
No biopsy has been done yet, however it was mentioned that the tumor is malignant.

I am highly unfamiliar on the treatment and diagnosis of kidney tumor and my queston are as follows

1. What are the possible treatments for kidney tumor. How will it be further dianosed/ tested?
2. At my mom’s advanced age is surgery a safe procedure for her? is it survivable? I am not familiar with this

3. Is a 3x3CM tumor a bad thing? Is it cancerous at this point with that size

4. What are the common symptoms, what should I be concerned of?
5. is there any related literature I can read
6. hat is the mortality rate of a Kidney Tumor

My mom lives with my dad, and since my other siblings have a family already, I am obligated to drive her around when needed and my dad recently suffered a stroke so he could no longer drive. I am just preparing myself for things to come.

At this point I am working with my brothers to find a specialist to get a 2nd opinion just to weigh out options. My mother is indeed visibly upset about the situation

if so what happened and at what point is it to late?
i had the test it showed a lofty tumor, the next day i will have it removed. i know they can tell by looking at tumors if they appear to be cancerous. i did get that impression from him. then they biopsy it. not before. this was quick! i am curious about when its too late.
