My guinea pig had stones. He passed one & must have passed the other. We changed his diet but he had stopped eating so we went back to what he was used to & that is when he began to gain weight back again. We think he passed the 2nd stone because he stopped crying & is behaving "back to his old self". I have noticed for about 2 wks his paper in his cage look tinted. I called both his vets in our town & in Indianapoli & reported it. The vet office in Indianapolis said it could be blood or he is stressed. Now I have to wait to the end of the day for his urine test to come back & I am so worried! I work in a lab & used some reagent that detects blood in stool just to see if the color would change & it did not so I am hoping it is not blood. Could something be wrong with his kidneys? Please any help would be very appreciated! I am a very worried piggies mommy right now! Thanks!
THANKS! The results came back & he has a bladder infection. He has started on his antibiotic. Thank you for the answers.

I had a Shih Tzu of 10 yrs, which just recently passed away off Kidney Failure. We noticed that about a month before it passed away it was shivering and was not very active….The vet did not say his condition was serious & gave him some treatment, but SHOCKINGLY it passed away like a week later…Just an advise 2 all dog owners…if u notice ur pet acting weird dont hesitate 2 bring it 2 the vet 4 a thorough check up & do go 4 a second opinion!!

My cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I had to maek the decision to pill him with methimazole or go ahead with I131 radioactive Iodine which is a cure however there are risks with both procedures. The risk with the I131 is your cat could go into acute renal failure if it has preexisting renal failure prior to the I131 injection-AND SOEMTIMES AFTER TREATMENT OF I131 THE KIDNEY FAILURE IS FOUND THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY HIDDEN. DO YOU THINK MY CAT HAD KIDNEY FAILURE PRIOR TO BEING DIAGNOSED WITH HYPERTHYOIDISM AND IT WAS BEING MASKED OR HIDDEN?

my cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in Nov 06. My cat was diagnosed with kidney disease & 75% kidney loss in Nov 07. I decided to pill him with medication to control but not cure his hyperthyroidism out of fear that if I had the I131 he would go into acute renal failure. There was no evidence suggesting that but I wanted to play it safe but having not gotten the cure may have caused him to die 2 years later instead of a cure of his hyperthroidism. Should i have gotten the I131 when he was first diagnosed with hyperthyroidism or do you think i made the right decision to pill him by allowing extra bllod flow to the kidneys which helps kidney function. But i feel really really guilty like i didnt make the right decison and have been cryign for 1 month straight. My cat dies 2 years later after being diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism on 12/29/08, and I balme myself becuse I think if i had gone ahead with the I131 he would still be here. The doctors dont know why he died. they just say he was severly dehyrdated, lethragic, anemic. I dont know if the hyperhtroidim killed him or kidney failure. I Ijust blame myself either way and will never forgive myself. I will never own another cat becuse I am not worthy or deserving of a cat. My cat was 16 1/2 when he died. I was giving him subq fluids under the skin for his dehydration and wellness can food 2 cans daily with hyperthyroid medicine. I hate myself!
I am an awful awful person. if my cat had another mom instead of me he probabaly would have lived longer. Im th eone who should be dead nt him. if i could die 4 him and he live I would do it becuse my life is meaningless & empty without him.

I passed a kidney stone last August & my ex-girlfriend just had our baby last week. I had another kidney stone attack the same day. She ended up at the same hospital I was already at. When I got the call, I knew she was on her way to this hospital where I already was. I ended up passing it shortly after the attack, only 4 hours of horrendous pain. I passed it in a hospital men’s room & if you were walking by you would have heard my scream!!! About 30 min later I was released & felt like a new man. I went up to the maternity ward to see my ex, she had not delivered yet. Her mom & sister asked me why I’m so late, I told them I’ve been here for 4 1/2 hours a few floors down & had just passed a kidney stone. her mom laughed at me & said childbirth is way worse than a kidney stone!

hi, im 16 years old and weight 126 lbs. 9 stones or 57 KG’s
my goal is to gain weight musle mass(weight)

i am supposed to be consuming 2512 calories per day
but my diet which consists of healthy foods i.e. chicken, kidney beans, veggies, lean fish etc. adds upto 3475( btw i am consuming 7 meals thorught the day.)

plus protein wise i should be consuming 126 grams and upwards.. but my diet is suggesting that i will be consuming 281.1 grams of protein.

plus my daily carb intake is 270.

i just want to know is this okay, or am i consuiming to many calories and grams protein & carbs?

btw i will be weight traning 4 days per week!!
