I have recently been diagonosed with a 2-3mm non blocking kidney stone, and have been referred to the urologist because of blood in the urine.

CT Scan shows stone in the lower pole calix of left kidney, 17 mm hemangioma in left hepatic lobe & small amount of cul-de-sac fluid seen just posterior & right of the uterus. Ultrasound was normal, but I do have a reversed uterus & long time sufferer of endometriosis. Everything else is normal & lung bases are clear.

Best I can explain my symptoms – abdominal swelling and hardening, both upper & lower(feels as if I’ve just done alot of crunches & muscles are tight & sore). Pressure under my rib cage and left side (feels like my ribcage needs to expand in order reduce the pressure), cramping in stomach & back – never really sharp pain, just chronic & tiring. I can move for short periods of time, & driving is impossible. Restrictive clothes makes it worse (bras, jeans).

Could this all be inflamation due to the stone?
My appointment for the urologist is the 30th, & in the meantime I reduced coffee intake to 1-2 cups, and the rest of the time it’s water, water, water, and Celebrex 2x a day. This is going on three weeks, and I still have not been able to pass the stone…

If you change you diet to low oxalate foods and drink juices high in citrate like lemon juice or lemon aid. can a kidney stone dissolve over time and just disappear? one dr. says no another says yes. who is right? i have a 5mm stone stuck in my ureter and 6 smaller ones in my kidney. The dr. wants to let it pass on its own but i don’t think its moving. it has been two weeks. pain remains in the same place. i am worried about the 6 stones that are still in the kidney. x-ray only shows one 2mm stone 4 inches above the bladder. and no ware else. ct scan dose not show any stone near bladder and one 5 mm stone 4 inched below the kidney and 6 more in the kidney itself grouped in an area a 3mm x 8mm the stones them selves are 2mm or less. i don’t have insurance and im unemployed. so i cant afford any kind of surgery. if i stick to my strict diet will stones go away or will i have to painfully pass every last one of them?

I’ve had a 3mm kidney stone for about a week now. I’ve been drinking a lot of fluids and following the doctors orders and I’ve had pain ranging from mild to quite painful come and go – but nothing like the initial attack. But I still haven’t passed the stone! (i mean, i haven’t felt it pass or seen anything in the filter the doc gave me)

I’m just wondering how long it usually takes to pass a stone of that size and I’m curious as to how badly it will hurt ;P the doc said it was small so it should just be uncomfortable at the worst, but I’ve heard (and read) of some horror stories..haha

thanks!

I passed a kidney stone about 2 months ago. The doctor told me that I still had a 3mm stone in the kidney. My kidney hurts quite often…terribly in my back….why am I in such pain if the stone is still in my kidney?

In an unrelated issue, I had a CT scan done. Everything was ok, but it revealed 2 – 3mm kidney stones in my right kidney. I have had them before about 7 and 8 years ago, one in each kidney but I never got hte measurements. I am unsure if a 3mm stone is large or small. Is it possible for me to pass it without feeling it? I feel fine and have no pain so I don’t know if the stones is still there in my kidney or I have passed them. Is it possible to pass them both at the same time? How long can a stone be in a kidney without it moving?
