Why does my urine smell strongly? Recently changed my diet to healthier, never felt better. I drink a lot.?
I’m 26, I’m 6′1” and weigh 160lbs. I recently (last week) switched my diet to exclude the majority of pesticides, preservatives and processed foods, and I drink a lot of water now. I drink about 14-21 beers per week on average for about the last 5 years. I’ve never felt better since the diet switch, but I’ve noticed that my multivitamin doesn’t make my urine bright yellow like it used to, and everytime I urinate it smells strongly. It is clearer than it ever has been the majority of the time. What could cause this?
Cirrhosis is out, I have absolutely no other bad symptoms. I’ve gone through cold and flu season without having either.
Don’t have any other symtoms for kidney stones either.

Many organic foods, like vegetables and fruits, can cause extreme odor in your urine. This doesn’t mean anything as to being wrong with your health, in fact you can look at it as a good thing. The fact that you can smell that odor shows that you are eating more healthier foods and especially since your urine is more clear. The clearer your urine is the more hydrated you are. You may drink a lot of liquids but if it isn’t water then you most likely aren’t hydrating yourself properly. So the fact that your urine is clearer and smells probably doesn’t mean anything except for the fact that your body is just adjusting to the new lifestyle.

Certain foods have enzymes in them that can make your urine smell. It could be from something in your new diet or you could be dehydrated. Less water in your urine can make its smell stronger and more distinct.
