What should I expect when I pass the kidney stone?
had a ct done and there is a 2mm stone in my left kidney.
What should I expect? How long before it starts to pass? Will one that small hurt really bad? How long will the pain last?
(and before everyone says "why didn’t I ask the Dr" I didn’t think of it as the ct was for something else major I was worried about. Didn’t hear a word about what he said about the stone.)

unfortunately i can give you some information about it because i had a 7mm kidney stone in my left kidney this year! and it got lodged! Fortunately i didn’t have to pass it, but i had to have it blasted to sand so i could pass it. I don’t know if you are male or female, but i have heard that passing one is worse for men because obviously men have to pass it further then woman. You are lucky your Dr. caught it at 2mm. im sure its not going to be comfortable to pass, but its a little on the small side and im sure your dr. thinks that you can pass it without it getting lodged, which is what happened in my case. I had bad kidney infections for about 5 years before my family dr. decided to check, and when they did they didn’t even see it! I had to go to the ER two days after they told me i DIDNT have a kidney stone. You are lucky if you haven’t had it lodge. It was the worst pain in my life, im a mother, and it was worse then child birth. I don’t think passing it is as painfull as getting one lodged. Its going to be a bad experience all the way around, and you will be so grate full when its all over with. I know i sure was.
Never had one myself, but I hear from people that have say the pain can be on par to child birth.
I feel for you
Be tough, it’s gonna suck.
It will be painful.
Bearable… but painful.
After, you might feel relieved. But I heard it can make grown men cry like they were two years old.
Oh boy, they say it’s male child birth. My father had one. You may want to call up to your dr’s office. I think just b/c of pain and precaution my dad was seen medically. Although, he didnt know he was having one until after it passed. I would call the office to see if there is anything you should do to prepare for it. It will pass on it’s own… when..Im not for sure about that. But normally it will pass when you urinate, so it would not last very long, just painful.
PAAIIIIINNNNNN
I found out a week ago that I had a 5 mm kidney stone by having a ct scan. I had been in pain for a week prior and had 3 really bad attacks. Once the stone moved out of my kidney and into the bladder, the pain from my stomach went away but I had the urge to urinate constantly. I drank more water than I ever had in my life. The last couple of days I braced myself for the pain of it passing but the pain seemed to never come back. Suddenly this past Thursday I had to go really bad and when I did, there it was. I could have cried, not from pain but from relief that the whole thing was over and I had no pain when it finally passed. I have a 4 month old and my labor pains were nothing compared to the pain I had with this kidney stone. Good Luck. Drink water and pray hard!
