How do you shrink and avoid kidney stones?
My boyfriend has a kidney stone at the moment. He recently had an operation to remove a stone from his bladder and a stone from his kidney. They got the bladder stone but they couldn’t find the kidney stone.
About 20 weeks ago when he was first diagnosed he was told the kidney stone was 8mm, now apparently it’s 7mm.
Though i’m not ready to trust the hospital since the whole 20 week thing has been nothing but a series of massive cock ups on their end. They didn’t even give him diet advice.
So, what i would like to know is…
Is it possible for a kidney stone to shrink?
What can he do to break the stone down?
What can he do to avoid more stones? This is his 3rd stone.

to avoid them no soda, its hard passing thru. go to a urinary doctor, they can give the something that will help pass. suggest that he tell the dr to try flomax. it gets america moving and . the only other thing is to drink plenty of water and cranberry juice and no to over eat. my dr. prescribed something for uric acid, that did the trick have not had any for ten years. hope this helps
If he has no other renal problems he’s probably getting them simply because of family history. A good way to prevent these is for him to drink plenty of water. That’s how he’s going to want to work it out as well. Water, water, water.
Foods to avoid:
rhubarb
spinach
beets
swiss
wheat
soybean crackers
peanuts
okra
chocolate
black Indian tea
sweet potatoes
There are pills to help shrink them. Have him ask his urologist, about Potassium Citrate. These are pills that help shrink, and prevent new stones forming.
