Mucus in Urine?
Okay, so I had asked a question earlier in this category, about some odd thing coming out in my urine…
I had said it was bloody, and squishy. I retrieved it from the toilet and kept it in a little dixie cup for when I see my doctor. I had a bit of the urine or water in the cup… and it dissolved. I’m thinking it was mucus, instead of a blood clot (too light), or kidney stone (too soft).
I mentioned before that I have very frequent (2 times a month) UTIs, and I’m wondering if this couldn’t be related?
It didn’t hurt coming out and YES, I AM SURE IT CAME FROM MY URETHRA! (I saw it, and felt it.)
So anyone have any ideas? I’m 15, female… not pregnant nor sexually active. Could this be mucus, or possibly (please no) a polyp?

Sounds like another symptom of a urinary tract infection. Has your doctor investigated the reason they are reoccurring so often?? Either the antibiotics are not clearing them up completely so that they return or there may be a problem with your immunological response to infection. A longer dose of the antibiotic might help; an immunological work-up (i.e., your IGA, IGG, and IGM levels) would also assist in discovering why this keeps occurring; a gynecological consult would also assist in effective diagnosis, cause, and treatment; kidney function tests would also be useful in the event that the blood can not be explained by the UTI.
A polyp is tissue; it won’t dissolve. If you are certain, as you say you are, that it came from the urethra, then I would think that it might be pus, and that you might have a bladder or other urinary tract infection. Either way, if you’re getting blood when you urinate, it’s not a bad idea to go see your doctor, and let her/him determine the best course of action.
Have your doc check your urine. If you don’t see the mucus the doc can under the microscope
If it isn’t infected, there is a disease called Institual cystitis……doc can check on that for you
Did you ever find out what the problem was, my daughter just had the exact same experience. she said the mucus was similar to a jelly fish and had streaks of blood in it. So, what was going on with you? The doctor did a test for infection, came out negative too?
