Kidney stones and bladder stones do not resolve themselves on their own, the vet is the place he needs to be. These are dangerous for the cat, if the cat becomes blocked and nothing is done they die very painfully as the kidneys shut down and blood poisoning starts occuring.

He needs treatment. This is something cats do get, which may or may not come back (usually it won't), so treatment does need to be done to get the cat back to normal.

he needs to keep liquids in his system, especially to aid in passing the kidney stone. it is very painful. if he is not drinking take it to the vet.

My male cat got kidney stones and I took him to the vet, They just sent him home and told me that he will pass it in time and he did, It is alot of pain for them but they can do it. All you basicly have to do is make sure he only eats a cup of cat food a day and make sure it's not barn cat food. Give him lots of fluid and he will pass them soon. It does nto make a diffrence if your male cat is fixed or not. My cat was not fixed when he got kidney stones and he got them again after I got him fixed.

Good luck and take care

I'm so sorry! I had all three of my cats staying at the vets a while ago, and I know how horrible it is. Ask your vet if there's anyway that you can have you cat stay there and get all the treatment done, and then as soon as you have the money, pay them back. As for the kidney stones, it's going to be very painful for your cat to have them pass through him, but with a good vet, it shouldn't take ages. I urge you to spend as much time as you can with your cat right now, because just in case something goes wrong, you'll regret not doing it later. Even if you companion doesn't know your there, just be there to comfort him and help him feel like he's at home at the vets. And if you do end up bringing him home, make sure he gets a LOT of rest. Keep him in a quite spot and have his food and litter box right next to him so he won't have to travel far the get to them. If you can, try to get him to eat out of your hand. Make sure he's getting LOTS of water so he'll be able to get the stones out. I feel horrible about your cat, and I really hope that he gets better soon. Good luck and hang in there!

How much do you love him? Do you love him enough to make the hard choices? What quality of life does he have? If there is already some kidney damage & he's diabetic I don't know, I'm not there, but you say he's suffering. I'm not saying this lightly, because I've been there & had to give him the only gift of love I had left to give. Peace. Of course you must talk to your Vet about it & see what he thinks. God bless & keep you during this trying time.
