I am 27 wks preg. and was in the hospital yesterday with kidney stones, yes it’s true what they said, WORSE then childbirth, definitely…anyways, they only offered me morphine, which I was afraid to take for the babies sake and mine, I have never had it and didnt know how i’d react…so I just sort of went home and suffered/stiff hurting today…any advice for natural cures for pain when you are pregnant with kidney stones, or any advice from someone who has been there? thankyou

My friend have it and it pain her non stop.
I had a kidney stone just a few weeks ago, so i know what you are going through. I felt like I had been hit with a baseball bat. I was around 26weeks. It took about 8 days to pass. On the 7th day I was finally prescribed lortab for the pain. Maybe you should ask your dr. for something else. But I am sure your dr. isn’t going to give you anything that would harm your baby. Just drink tons of water. Water is the best thing to flush out your system. And you can drink cranberry juice after you pass it to help your kidney heal. Just give it time, it will get better.
Holy cow, I’m not sure how you’re surviving! 3 months ago I was in the hospital for a week for kidney stones (I was 22 weeks pregnant at the time), and I seriously thought I was going to die from the pain. They ended up stenting my ureter for the remainder of my pregnancy, which took away the extreme pain, now it’s just sore all the time. Anyway, I was a very paranoid pregnant person before this experience (I wouldn’t even take tylenol), but in reality you really can take a number of things that will not harm your baby. I was on all sorts of IV/shot/pill versions of pain medications, and had to take vicodin for pain for a month after being released from the hospital. The reality of it is that if you are in extreme pain (such as you would be with kidney stones), that is putting a lot of stress on your body and your baby, and is no better for your baby than taking some pain medication. You wouldn’t want to end up in labor due to the toll this is taking on your body.
Good luck though, I honestly think kidney stones during pregnancy have got to be the worst thing on the planet.
Morphine would not affect your baby in any way….the only issue with opiates (which is what painkillers are, as well as tylenol 3, it’s the same thing, it has the same effects, and you and your baby will react to it just the same as morphine) while pregnant is when you are physically addicted to them, because withdrawals can cause miscarraige, but you wouldn’t have to worry about that…I would think you’d be better off taking the morphine because the stress from the pain couldn’t be good for your or the baby…
There are no natural cures for kidney stones.
You CAN take morphine while pregnant. (It’s catagory B, just like tylenol!) It will not harm your baby and, unless taken for long periods of time, will not cause your baby (or you) to become dependent.
You surely don’t want to spend the next 13 weeks in pain, so please go back to your doctor and discuss your treatment options. There is surely something you can do that is safe for you and your baby.
I agree about the tylenol 3. Call your doc and ask for some. I took it while pregnant for a root canal and had no side effects. I have had 3 kidney stones, but never while pregnant. Drink cranberry juice too. That should help flush your system. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon.
Drink loads of water,
if your side is hurting then run a sponge under cold water and press it into where it hurts,
this works well in a nice warm bath
good luck and congrats
xx
DRINK NON STOP!! flush yourself out, drink barley water if you can. I had them with my first and didnt take the strong meds either but i did take tylenol #3 because the pain is like you said worse than labor. you just need to flush your system so the stone will pass. good luck, i know it hurts
