I wake up at night with severe pain in my lower back/kidneys? ?

I wake up at night with severe pain in my lower back/kidneys? and feel bloated like I need to go to the bath room. I try but pass nothing the pain only happens at night. I have gone to the ER and to my family DR and had blood work, Urine tests and a x-ray and all have come back clear. has anyone experienced this and what is the cause and cure. And no its not kidney stones I have had them and been test for them by the urine test.

Well I was going to say pyelonephritis but if the doctors did urine tests and there were no white or red blood cells and no signs of infection it can’t be that.
Second guess is maybe it is autoimmune. Any spondyloarthropathy can produce back and hip pain in the night that wakes you up. You should get seen by a rheumatologist and tested. Also there is something called enteric arthritis that is an inflammatory bowel disease. You should get it checked out.

FYI kidneys are not located in your lower back

I’m glad that you’ve been to the doctor, especially the ER. It almost sounds like symptoms of an internal injury, but thankfully it sounds like it isn’t.

I wouldn’t give up on trying to find out what it is. Family doctors can do only so much, I would ask for a referral to a urologist next. If it is affecting you this much, it cannot be ignored. Hang in there, it can be so tough when you don’t know what is wrong.

    Yepp. 🙂
I had to get a cat scan… and turns out i was just compeltly* constipated… it was backed up all the way to my intestines.
like you may have a regular or close to regular bowl movement but its so packed up in your intestines and stuff..
so i have to take this powder stuff and mix it with water so it’s a laxitve* of sorts. haha.
so try to see if you can get a cat scan or CT so their called. hope this helps

    Have you had a sonogram?
Not all stones are picked up by simple urinalysis or XRays.
Your symptoms are clearly poiting to urinary tract related problems. It may not necessarily be an infection.
If you are an older male, I would definitely recommend seeing a urologist.
