Kidney stones, one hydrocodone 1 hr ago. No help. Should I take another or a tramadol instead?I’m at work.?

I am about to faint from the pain. Maybe I should just bail and go home. I had a CT scan this morning. It is a really crucial time for me at work right now and don’t want to miss anymore work because of these stupid stones. This will be # 5 in as many months.

They usually say you can take 1-2 every 6 hours, so if 1 did not do the trick, take another. If you still find that those do not help, you can call your doctor and ask for something a bit stronger. IMO, Tramadol is not going to touch that pain! Don’t even bother! You can also try adding Advil in about an hour after you take the hydro and see if that helps at all. Just make sure you do not take any additional tylenol since hydrocodone is mixed with it and you do not want to do any damage to your liver. I hope you feel better.

I was getting stones every 6 months and finally saw a Nephrologist, he did some tests and found the problem. In the meantime I have cut down on my caffeine intake and drink more water and milk, and knock on wood I have been doing really good lately. I was not drinking enough water for minerals to properly dissolve so I would get stones, as for right now you are going to have to tolerate what you can, I just can’t believe you are at work, the only thing I have found that eleviates the pain is Morphine, nothing else has ever touched the pain. Sorry and good luck.
