How fast do Kidney Stones form?

I went to the hospital last night because I was having contractions. Well come to find out they were brought on by a UTI. My 3rd one this pregnancy. They also found protein in my urine along with high blood pressure "the start of preeclampsia" and last but not least crystals in my urine "they are calcium" My question is how fast can these crystals turn into a stone? The reason I ask is I have been having this awful pain in my right side around the kidney area, and it hurts to the point that I want to cry.. It is starting to get uncomfortable when I go the the bathroom as well.. The doctor ordered me to do a 24 hour urinalysis, to see what all is really going on, and how bad everything is. I just dont think I can handle this pain for that long of a time. Not with me being pregnant.. Please anybody what can I do to help comfort this pain? "30weeks pregnant"

I think stone form over time, I might be wrong. It could also be a kidney infection. If the pain is rally bad, head to labor and delivery. Take them the urine you have collected and they can test it. IS there any blood in your urine as that is a sign of an kidney infection. Or just call your doctor and let him know that the pain is getting really bad!

I too am 30 wks pregnant and passed my very first kidney stone a couple of weeks ago. Thought I was going to die. My Dr. told me that there is a high probability that I will get another one. He told me that I need to drink lots of water, and to put a squeeze of lemon in my water to acidify it. The acid will break down the stones. And he told me to make sure I pee a lot and to do pelvic rocks. I don’t know how fast they form but maybe if you try the lemon in your water it will help you too.

I dont think there is a given time that it takes for a kidney stone to form. I had two of them when I was in my early 2nd trimester and I didn’t have pain in my kidney area. I had pain on my side (this is where the tube, your ureters, is that connects the kidney to the bladder. That is the part that hurt. You could possibly have a kidney infection. Tell your doctor you want further tests done. I hope you feel better soon!

Have you spoken with your ob/gyn? I would give them a call if you haven’t already and see what they recommend. I have had several kidney stones, but I am unaware of any specific time frame they form in. Drink alot of water, and cranberry juice for it will help flush out those crystals hopefully before they form into stones. I sympathize with your pain hon, how uncomfortable you must be! I hope the antibiotics work for the uti and that you may find relief soon!

Oh my… this is not a good condition during pregnancy. I agree that you should be doing some water therapies. How about buying a 500ml bottle for you to monitor your water intake. I suggest you drink a lot of water because it’s natural.

I hope you get better soon.
