Spacers, eating, pain?
I just had eight spacers put in my mouth yesterday (for a week before I get braces) and the pain is absolutely EXCRUCIATING. I can’t even eat soft foods like bananas without being in overwhelming pain. To be honest, the only pain that compares to this was urinary tract infection and a kidney stone I had. Yesterday, I could eat anything even though it felt a tad strange. Today, I can’t even eat soft foods like bananas. I’ve taken Advil, Tylenol, and Ibuprofen today and the pain hasn’t gone away or been relieved at all. I’m also starving, my diet is going to subsist of Jello pudding and Jamba Juice for the next week.
How can I relieve this horrible pain? I can’t even sleep it is so bad. What mushy foods do you suggest for eating?

I ate soup, mash potatoes and jello but my spacers did not hurt guess I was lucky. Mortin is great for pain
I ate Campbell’s noodle-soup but i don’t think mine was as bad as yours. I only had 4 spacers. You’ll get over them in a bit of time. Maybe 2 more days?
Ah, spacers. A pain you don’t forget.
Anyway, when I had them (and whenever I got my braces tightened) I would take a lot of Ibuprofen and eat lots of applesauce and chicken noodle soup. Actually I just ate the noodles and the broth, the chicken hurt too much to chew. But the soup fills you up, and you don’t even really have to chew it if the noodles are small enough. You could always mash them with your spoon.
You’re lucky. I had twelve and I had to keep them in for a month. Back to the subject though, most soups are good. I like chicken noodle. Ice cream and other cold things relieve pain a little. The only medication that gave the slightest relief for me was ibuprofen. Good luck with your orthodontic treatment.
jello, ice cream, soups, mashed potatoes, mashed bananas, and this might sound weird, but baby food. you’ll get all your nutrients, the same ways babies do, lol
Soup is most probably the best option!
I had 16 spacers inserted yesterday. I had 3 meals that day as time went on and each one was progressively worse. Today the pain while not eating hasn’t been bad, but I simply cannot eat anything solid. I guess I’ll have to use the blender and get a lot of soup. Sadly, however, I’m stick at work for 12 hours and don’t have any soft foods. :/
Stick to soup. You can get some fantastic elaborate soups now that really fill you up!
