They will do an IVP to be sure you have kidney stones but unless they are large they will just give you a strainer to strain your urine with so you can tell when the stone passes. If the stones are large they may suggest lithotripsy where they put you in a big tub of water and shoot sonic waves at the kidney stones to break them up. They don’t do anything for kidney stones unless you need pain medication. Typically what they do is give you some sort of pain meds and a catheter if you need it. They will typically preform a CT scan to show if in fact you have a stone and do a urine dip to see if you have blood in your urine. If the stone is to big to pass they will more then likely refer you to a urologist to see if they will need to remove it for you. Good luck I know they are painful.
