Kidney Infection/UTI Treatment? Amoxicillan 3 times a day(500 mg). Does this sound correct?
Do you think this medicine and dosage will cure my infection?

I just looked up Amoxicillin in my PDR (Physician’s Desk Reference) and it says that it CAN be taken with milk and other juices. In fact, for babies, it can be simply added to their bottle of formula.
P.S.– I also found several sites that list Amoxicillin as one of the leading antibiotics used for a kidney infection. It may be contraindicated if you have a history of kidney DISEASE.
It might I normally get Cipro for Kidney infections though…drink a lot of cranberry juice and stay away from spicy foods and highly acidic things such as tomatoes…..that should help
DRINK BUTTERMILK OR CONSUME 12 OZ. OF YOGURT EA. DAY IN ADDITION TO THE MEDICINE……IT WILL HELP TREMENDOUSLY……
Sounds right to me….
Yes it will cure your UTI if you finish the dosage…
And you may want to buy cranberry pills or drink real cranberry juice (not from concentrate because it’s too much sugar). Crandberries are natural occuring antioxidants/antibiotic which fight off bacteria and keep your urninary tract in good condition.
yes amoxicillan will work for kidney infection. Don’t drink milk with antibotics.
Yes it does sound right if the bug that is causing the infection is sensitive to Amoxycillin. Your Dr should have sent off a specimen which will test for the bug and what the bug is sensitive and resistant too. You should be able to feel improvement within 24hours. Drink lots of water and if no improvement return to your Dr.
Being a woman who has suffered from many infections and been to many specialists, I have to say I have never heard of using Amoxicillin. I truly don’t think it will work. I don’t think it is the correct med for the job. I have heard of using Cipro 500mg. and I have heard of Macrodantin, but not Amoxicillin. Are you trying to self treat? I think a day or so of use, and you will know one way or the other. Good luck. I know they are a drag to have. Drink lots of fluids, especially the cranberry and blueberry variety. They are more of a preventative though, not a cure. PS – go to http://www.walgreens.com and look up medications and usages. I believe you can look up conditions too. Take care.
