This is true, and all the hospitals know that they do make 10% mistakes and do patients more harm than good. The hospital I work for admits to that.

I had to have an Ultra Sound test done. They could not tell me the results of that test. Instead I had to see a Nephrologist who READ the Ultrasound test results to advise me my kidneys are only functioning at 45% capacity. The Nephrologist sent me to a Cancer Doctor for blood tests to make sure Cancer was not causing my problem. The cancer doctor read the results & advised me my condition was 'age related' & I don't have cancer. Thank God for that part, anyway.

I went to the E.R. with sever abdominal pain a number of years ago, and the first thing the E.R. nurse told me was after asking my name, was: " I'll bet you have a kidney stone. Can you give us a urine sample?". I did, there was traces of blood, I had no G.I. noises or other G.I. symptoms. X-Ray contrast tests confirmed stones.

Your experience is bad, bad medical care! I think this malfeasance, if not out right malpractice.
Kidney stones should have been the number ONE condition to rule out in a young man with severe abdominal pain. A few simple tests, urinalysis, and simple competent abdominal exam would have made the diagnosis of kidney stones, confirmed by an IVP and ruled out gastrointestinal problems.
A cat scan was gross over-kill and should have been used as a last resort. This is a powerful argument for health care reform and for outcome based medicine.
Get a medical malpractice lawyer to represent you in a suit against the hospital, attending physician, and the radiologist. Make sure the state medical board finds out what happened.
Good luck!
