Kidney stones in women?
hi, I think I may be passing kidney stones. I didn’t think young women got them. I’m 22.
I have to per pretty often, like a bladder infection. It doesn’t hurt too much when I first start peeing but towards the end there is a very bad pain. It’s been going on for 3 days now.
So, does this sound like a kidney stone? And if so, how much longer will it take, how much worse will the pain get when I actually pass it? An finally, how common is this in women my age?
Aloha

You may have a UTI. although, you could have a kidney infection. Does your back hurt ALOT too? Perhaps just on one side more than the other? If it does, and if you have even a low grade fever, go to the doctor right away. A kidney infection can become dangerous if not treated promptly. I had two of these, and it was so not fun, but after I got put on medicine, I was better in less than a week!
Feel better!
not very common, hun. i would definitely go see a doctor. passing a kidney stone doesn’t take 3 days, so this can’t be a kidney stone. some kind of infection or something.
I had that too! last year I had to pee constantly & every time i went it was right at the end it felt like my bladder was being squeezed really hard or being ripped out!! I had blood too, but never passed any stones. you should probably go to the Dr’s just to make sure. I heard stones are excruciating & I know a guy that has them & every time one moves he pukes from the pain!! If you drink lots of pop & caffeine it can cause kidney stones & bladder infections.
Yes, it is possible for you to have kidney stones. See a Doctor ASAP since it could be a UTI, or other problems. A blood test can also show if you have high Uric acid, a cause of one type of stone.
It is possible to have kidney stones. I am 22 as well, and had them when I was 21. My mother had them when she was 16, and it could be genetic.
It could also be a bladder infection, kidney infection, UTI or ovarian cysts. The only way to be sure is so go to the doctor and get it checked out. I know that’s probably not the answer you want to hear, but it’s true. You don’t want the pain to get any worse or make a smaller problem get bigger. Good luck!
