what does it feel like to pass a kidney stone?
my dad has passed 10 kidney stones and with all of the recent talk about them, i was wondering what do men have to say about what it feels like to pee one out, meaning what does it feel like to pee it out? do you pee them into a strainer? does the strainer rest over the toilet, do you hold the strainer? how does the process all work?

It’s painful. The pain varies from "Ouch!" to "OMFG!!!!!!". Imagine an irregular piece of gravel coming out where you urinate.
There are different strainers, some hand held, some rest on the toilet. After the first few, there’s likely not a big reason to strain. The earlier stones have been analyzed. Most patients form one type of stone.
It’s bee said that stone pain is the closest a man can come to the pain of childbirth.
Hold the strainer in front fo you. Mine was the size of a pea, like a Bowling Ball going Thu a straw.
(OUCH)
First of all–it probably does not hurt when you pee it out of you. The pain is when it travels from the kidney to the bladder. Once it reaches the bladder–there is no pain–at least from the stone. There is still some pain left from the trip to the bladder. It does not hurt a man any more or less than a woman. A man’s penis can take a tube–catheter– about the size at a child’s finger. So the stone does not hurt coming from the bladder to the toilet. Yes–you need to hold the strainer–or have someone hold it for you and pee in the strainer. Good Luck to you father. They DO hurt–like taking a knife and cutting because that is exactly what happens–and you bleed from it.
Old_Woman,
That’s fairly accurate, however the size, and shape of the stone can cause A LOT of pain and discomfort in the Urethra. Definitely the least painful part of the process though.
